AROS Strategic Advisory Board

We are pleased to introduce the eight members or AROS’s Strategic Advisory Board following the completion of recruitment in June. Their collective expertise will guide and support AROS’s work to hold Scotland’s public bodies accountable for addressing systemic racism through scrutiny, evidence and lived experience.

Nuzhat Uthmani (Chair) is a teacher and lecturer in Teacher Education at the University of Stirling, specialising in global citizenship and equalities-based education. She has supported national work on anti-racist practice in education and efforts to reduce barriers facing ethnically minoritised teachers.

Manira Ahmad (Vice-Chair) is Chief Officer at Public Health Scotland, with extensive systems leadership experience across public and private sectors. Her work centres on data-driven, evidence-based approaches to equity, embedding lived experience in decision-making.

Davie Donaldson is a Nawken advocate and social justice practitioner specialising in anti-oppressive practice. His work focuses on building inclusive relationships and supporting decision-makers to address inequity, particularly for Gypsy/Traveller communities.

Clare Gallagher is Policy Manager at the National Lottery Community Fund, leading policy development and strategic influence to embed equitable funding in decision-making. She has a background in human rights and anti-racism, including work on national policy and legislative reform.

Tasnim Hassan is a Disabled researcher and consultant working through an intersectional justice lens whose work focuses on research, facilitation and movement building, with particular attention to disability and racial justice.

Dr Kevin Leomo is a Scottish-Filipino sound artist, researcher, curator and community organiser. He works in public engagement and cultural programmes at the University of Glasgow and uses an intersectional, decolonial and anti-racist ethos.

Dr Jennifer Ndiweteko Nghishitende is a Lecturer in Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of the West of Scotland. Her work focuses on decolonisation, racial equity and human rights, with a particular interest in migration, diaspora and life after human trafficking.

Husnain Raza Sadiq has more than three decades of experience shaping inclusive policy across the public and third sectors. He is a strategic leader in governance and workforce equity, focused on advancing evidence-led approaches to systemic change.
