Scotland is taking a vital step in tackling systemic racism with the establishment of AROS. As the next step in the journey, we are now inviting applications for the Strategic Advisory Board (SAB). This is a crucial body that will provide guidance, oversight and accountability during AROS’s first two years (until December 2027). The SAB will:
- Support and guide the development of AROS during its incubation period.
- Help build AROS’s profile among communities, the third sector and public sector.
- Scrutinise aspects of AROS’s budget and advise on effective expenditure.
- Champion innovation and ensure the Observatory delivers real impact.
- Contribute to sustainability planning for AROS beyond 2027.
We are seeking to appoint a Chair and up to 12 members. Applicants should bring knowledge, skills and experience in anti-racism in the Scottish context, along with expertise in areas such as strategy, governance, community participation, public policy, campaigning, or equalities data. A majority of board members will be people with lived experience of racialisation, and applications from those with intersectional lived experience are particularly welcomed.
