Community engagement update

Throughout October, the AROS hosting team held a series of online engagements with all Race Equality Councils from across Scotland, as well as the national infrastructure organisations. These sessions provided a detailed update on the development of AROS, covering the rationale for its establishment and the collaborative hosting model between the University of Strathclyde and CRER.

These engagements created space to explore how best to strengthen community connections and to shape the development of a network of community hubs across Scotland. These hubs will form a vital mechanism for ensuring that AROS’s work is grounded in lived experience, enabling meaningful participation, community insight, and a strong feedback loop into AROS’s research, policy, and learning activities. This network will begin activation in the new year.

Initiating these conversations marks an important milestone in building the foundations for AROS and deepening relationships with groups across Scotland. If additional community organisations would like to engage in this process or learn more, they are warmly encouraged to contact the team via the contact form on this website.

Additionally, the AROS hosting team also delivered

two informational webinars for individuals interested in applying to the AROS Strategic Advisory Board (SAB). The webinars outlined the intended remit, structure, and functioning of the SAB, emphasising its role in providing independent guidance, ensuring accountability, and shaping AROS’s strategic direction. SAB recruitment is currently being completed but there may be further opportunities in future. Please keep an eye out for any announcements if this is something you are interested in.
