We are pleased to share an important update on the ongoing work to establish the Anti-Racism Observatory for Scotland (AROS). As the host organisation, we have now formally entered the mobilisation phase of this work. This phase is a key milestone in the development of AROS, as it marks the transition from planning to putting in place the structures, people, and systems that will bring the Observatory to life.
At the heart of this phase is the recruitment of the AROS team – a dedicated group of individuals who will drive forward the Observatory’s work. Leading this team will be the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), a pivotal role in shaping the direction and impact of AROS.
To ensure a high-quality, inclusive, and transparent recruitment process, we are delighted to announce that we have appointed Cadence Partners to support the recruitment of the CEO. This appointment followed a competitive tender process, and we are confident that Cadence brings the right blend of experience and values to support this important work.
Cadence Partners is an executive search and recruitment consultancy with a strong track record in equity-focused hiring. They are committed to tackling under-representation and increasing diversity in leadership across sectors. With significant experience working with mission-driven organisations, Cadence understands the importance of recruiting leaders who are not only skilled, but who also bring lived experience, strategic insight, and deep commitment to anti-racism. You can find out more about their ethos and approach on their website: Cadence Partners – About Us
Together with Cadence, we are now preparing to launch the recruitment campaign for the AROS CEO. This will be an open process, designed to attract candidates with a wide range of backgrounds and experiences who share a commitment to dismantling structural racism in Scotland.
In the coming weeks, the recruitment campaign will go live, and we will share further information about the CEO role and how to apply. Alongside this, we will also be advertising other roles within the AROS team. These roles will be critical to building an organisation that is grounded in anti-racist principles and driven by evidence, community knowledge, and collaborative leadership.
We will also soon be launching the recruitment of the AROS Advisory Board. The Advisory Board will play an essential role in guiding the work of the Observatory, ensuring that it remains accountable to the communities it serves and aligned with its core values.
We know that there is strong public and community interest in AROS and we are committed to keeping you updated as we move forward. This is a time of exciting progress and foundational work, and we are grateful for the continued engagement and support from across Scotland.
If you are interested in learning more about these upcoming roles or would like to be notified when they go live, we encourage you to follow our updates on this website.
AROS is being developed to be a truly collaborative, community-informed, and change-focused organisation. The mobilisation phase – and especially the recruitment of its first team and leadership – is a crucial step in making this vision a reality.
We look forward to sharing more very soon.
